“Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.” ― Bertrand Russell

Hart House Hancock Public Lecture Committee – I’m part of a student committee organizing the annual social justice lecture at Hart House. In 2018 the theme is anti-Black racism. Chizoba Imoka will give a lecture on the theme “Black & Educated?“.

UofT Faculty of Engineering Committee: Community Affairs and Gender Issues – I’ve just joined this! But the goal is to help with recruitment and current student experience related to diversity issues.

Board of Directors at LIFE Co-op – I am a member and investor in this community-owned renewable energy cooperative, and act as the Secretary on the Board of Directors.

Leadnow.ca Team Lead for Kitchener – I led the Kitchener “Vote Together” team during the 2015 election, with the aim of getting Kitchener Centre progressive voters to “Stop Harper”. I organized 40+ events (phone banks and door-to-door canvasses) and 90+ volunteers. After the election, we kept the heat on our local MP by calling for electoral reform and continuing to canvass door-to-door to raise awareness about proportional representation.

Transition Kitchener-Waterloo Facilitator – I led a team of volunteers between 2011 and 2016 on a local initiative to help us shift away from dependence on fossil fuels and adapt to the coming climate crisis. Some of the notable achievements were the creation of the Climate Change Adaptation Toolkit and organizing a Climate Change Town Hall to call on our local MPs to take action.
